Tupi
Chair
2009
The geometry of the Tupi chair is composed of the superposition of curvilinear planes that generates an ambiguous perception of the shape: superimposed planes or double curvature.
We sought to achieve a shape with very organic and ergonomic characteristics and with an abundance of double curvatures, but which could be made up of flat pieces cut on the CNC (computer numerical control milling machine) without artisanal interventions.
The end result reminded us of an indigenous graphic and ended up inspiring the name of the piece.
