Center table

2006

A series of furniture consisting of a side table, coffee table and sideboard is based on the window grilles found in houses and suburbs in several cities in Brazil.
Window grilles, like those used in this series, were widespread during the 60s and 70s and are a derivative of the cast iron grilles and railings present in the architecture of previous periods. Today they are associated with the suburbs of Brazilian cities and the lower-middle class. In this project we believe we have managed to elevate the aesthetics of these railings to the point where they are considered objects of desire. We also hope to have made some contribution to the recovery of a precious local aesthetic value that, like many others, is falling into oblivion.
It was selected for the Brazil is Cosi exhibition that took place during the 2009 Milan furniture fair.
