Armchair

2008

The design of the “Pantosh” armchair is born from the fusion of two extraordinary pieces: The Panton chair by Danish architect Verner Panton dating from 1968 with the Willow Armchair, by Scottish architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh, created between 1902 and 1904. This armchair is part of the series Viralata© which is composed of several pieces including furniture, objects and architectural elements that are the result of an uninterrupted process of “crossings” between furniture and objects that generate third creations.

In line with the concept of “cultural anthropophagy”, launched by Oswald de Andrade in 1928 – the idea of devouring colonizing culture and transforming it into Brazilian and revolutionary culture., the Pantosh armchair presents strong but subtle references to roots and culture Brazilian: Miscegenation, syncretism and “viralism”.

Received the Idea Brasil Award in 2009, finalist at the Museu da Casa Brasileira 2009, finalist at the international IF Awards 2009 in Frankfurt.
