Dida
Chair
2023
This chair is born from the fusion of the shapes of the Girafa chair by Lina Bo Bardi, made in wood in 1986, with the iconic Polyside chair designed by the Englishman Robin Day in 1964. The result is a piece that merges the most characteristic features of each piece – the robustness and the pronounced neck of Lina’s chair with the curvy and slender shapes of Robin Day. The Dida chair is part of a family of furniture affectionately named Viralatas Series by the designers. The series brought for the first time the concept of design-fusion in which the design of two pieces of furniture, generally classic modernist, are fused (or syncretized) to create result in a third design of an original piece of furniture that is completely different from the others, but with a strong “genetic load” from its generating matrices.
