Biombo São Cristovão

Accessories

2013

This screen with four articulated wooden leaves is inspired by the window grilles found in suburban houses in several cities in Brazil. These metal railings were widespread during the 60s and 70s and are a derivative of the cast iron railings and railings present in the architecture of previous periods. The name São Cristóvão comes from the homonymous neighborhood in Rio, which is the location of Lattoog’s studio. Its architecture has a lot of influence on everyday life and on Lattoog’s creations. The São Cristóvão neighborhood, known as the Imperial neighborhood, has a very rich history: At the beginning of the 19th century, it housed D. João VI and the royal family in its Royal Palace, which is the current headquarters of the National Museum.
